In view of the guidelines issued by The Supreme Court , the State Government has taken an important and significant decision to set up State Police Complaints authority and District Police Complaints authorities in the State.
The State Police complaints authority will inquire into the complaints and allegations of serious misconduct against the Police officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent and above.
This authority will be headed by the retired High Court judge ,with Officer of the rank of Additional Director General of police as it's Secretary. A retired Police officer of the rank of I.G.P., Eminent person from the Civil Society and retired officer not below the rank of Secretary / Commissioner will be the member of this authority.
The District Police Complaints authority will inquire into the complaints and allegations of serious misconduct against the Police officers and up to of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.
This District authority will be headed by the retired District judge ,with the Officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent as it's Secretary. An Eminent person from the Civil Society and retired officer not below the rank of Superintendent will be the member Secretary .
